Join our Team: Security Manager and Event Safety Officer

The Security Manager will be responsible for providing organisational and supervisory direction in leading the Security Department. They will ensure the Venue is professionally presented and operated at all times and that through the department the highest level of security service is delivered across the site and promoting organisations attending and operating within the facility.
  
Working with the General Manager and Head of Operations will ensure that all events are operated securely and will provide event fire safety officer services for events. Cooperation is essential in working with venue departments.  The role oversees the employment of security staff including permanent, casual and contracted. 

DUTIES

  • Oversee and supervise all aspects of operations of the Security Department within the Venue including:
    •  To manage, supervise and develop the 24hr shift based Arena house security team to provide high standards of professional quality service. 
    • Patrolling of the facility internally/externally on a regular managed basis. 
    • Operation and monitoring of the security and safety equipment (CCTV, fire alarm, DVR’s alarm systems, radio dispatcher etc) and associated control room spaces.
  • Supervise and roster the security staff.
  • Recruit security staff as necessary.
  • Arrange training for members of the security team pursuant to appropriate industry standards dealing with patrons, clients and staff. 
  • Ensure the operations of the department work within the requirements of health and safety legislation.
  • Ensure the operations of the department work within the requirements of GDPR legislation.
  • Develop Security and contingency plans for the venue. 
  • Conduct risk assessments. 
  • Supervising the provisions of goods receiving and distribution function for the venue.
  • Manage the Security Department so as to respond to the needs of the operational departments within the Venue and the site (including car park). 
  • To liaise with emergency services.
  • To liaise with event medical cover and record their reports for Arena records: to carry out full analysis of the same.
  • To assist with investigation into insurance claims.
  • To investigate and record accidents when reported on site.
  • To provide cover for the Building Security Officers including the control room.
  • To cover Safety Officer duties for events including pre event checks, event monitoring and post event, reporting and supporting Duty Management personnel.
  • To manage external site issues. 
  • Management, supervision and direction of janitorial cleaning service.
  • Provide event fire safety officer services.
  • Manager stock control (goods in and out).
  • Ensure the department runs within the operational budget provided and in reference to the Venue’s Commercial Accountant and Head of Operations.
  • Undertake and supervise post event analysis and inputting data as necessary into the Event Scheduling package. 
  • Provide all Departments with data as requested.
  • Provide any reports that may be required by the Venue and company executives. 
  • Travel to events and conferences as directed and provided by the company on an as required basis. 
  • Management, implementation, review of policy/procedures.
  • Manage and oversee the implementation of security threat response plans and liaise with agencies.
  • Providing department SOP’s.
  • Overseeing the maintenance and operation of fire detection systems and CCTV.
  • Oversee the management of access control across the site.
  • Other duties as may be required by the management.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE 

  • Current SIA Door Supervisors Licence (Essential).
  • Current SIA CCTV Licence (Desirable). 
  • First Aid at Work Qualification (Desirable). 
  • Awareness of Counter Terrorism (ACT or Project Griffin). (Essential).
  • Management qualification and/or relevant management experience  (Essential).
  • Experience working in the event industry e.g. Door Supervision, and/or Event Stewarding or Venue Security (Desirable).
  • Crowd management experience (Desirable).
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills - both written and verbal.
  • Must have excellent customer care skills. (Essential).
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and the confidence/ability to deal with difficult situations (including those involving conflict) (Essential).
  • The ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team. (Essential).
  • Presentable appearance. (Essential).
  • Reliable and flexible. (Essential).
  • Fire Awareness Training (Essential).

*The requirements of the business are such that on occasions weekend, evening and night working will be required. (Mandatory)
To comply with changes in legislation and company policies training will be provided as required from time to time of this position in order to maintain the appropriate levels of service within the facility.
