The Young Americans – ‘A Night on the Toon!
Sunday 17th March, 2013
- Doors Open:
51 years in the making, the world renowned Young Americans, have chosen the North East, and the Metro Radio Arena, for their global Arena debut.
From 1962, the Young Americans have been at the pinnacle of excellence in music and dance. From the earliest days in Hollywood, working alongside legends, which included the late Andy Williams and Ed Sullivan, to 2012, where our 3 month international tours saw dates in Tokyo, Los Angeles, London, Dublin and Glasgow, the Young Americans have been electrifying audiences, young and old.
In a Two Act Spectacular, you’ll travel through time and across musical genres, at an unstoppable pace, with vocal and dance showstoppers, to rival any West End, or Broadway, production.
During Act One you’ll be dazzled by the vibrancy and energy of a cast of 50 performers, taking you on a spellbinding journey through full production numbers, including: music from your favourite shows, legendary pop and rock melodies, classical and contemporary dance, together with stunning 8 part choral music, to stir the soul.
In Act Two, you’ll experience over 1000 young people from the North East joining the Young Americans on stage, in an emotionally charged performance of medley after medley of contemporary classics, from around the world, all showcasing local talent and inspiring a younger generation.
As the show draws to a close, you’ll feel an unexpected enchantment, which will connect you with our casts, friends and colleagues across the continents, as we close our show ~ the way we close every show, joined together for our unique arrangement of, ‘If we hold on together’.
Prior to this show, the cast will spend two days in Newcastle, teaching music performance workshops, to over one thousand local young people, including classes in singing, dancing, and theatre. On the final day, a spectacular two hour Broadway style show will take place, where they will perform right alongside The Young Americans, in front of their parents, family, teachers and peers, together with VIP community members.
This 2 hour special show is bursting with colour, costume, passion, talent, not to mention specially arranged local musical favourites~ ‘A Night on the Toon’, like you will never have experienced before ~ not to be missed!
