- Doors Open:
Following Stereophonics' five-star performance at Electric Ballroom and triumphant hometown Cardiff Castle Show the band head out on a 7-date Arena Tour, March 2010, with their stunning new album 'Keep Calm And Carry On' (Released 16th November).
Coming on the back of their greatest hits, which sold 750,000 copies, singer, guitarist and songwriter Kelly Jones has taken the band in some surprising new directions. 'Keep Calm And Carry On' is stripped back, minimalist, pithy, poppy and soulful, 12 little gems of sharply crafted, melodic storytelling.
Stereophonics - Kelly Jones (Songwriter, Vocals, Guitar), Richard Jones (Bass), Javier Weyler (Drums) and Adam Zindani (Guitar) kick off their Arena Tour in Newcastle at The Metro Radio Arena on Monday 1st March 2010 and will bring it to a close with a show at London's O2 Arena.
Stereophonics release their eagerly anticipated studio album 'Keep Calm And Carry On', 16th November, which was written by Kelly Jones and produced by Kelly and Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian). Their hook-laden new single 'Innocent' is released 9th November.
"I wanted to try to make an album that was like a debut," says Kelly. "We've got the brand of Stereophonics over us, we're expected to do a certain thing to fill seats, but I just tried to forget that. I wanted a record that carried its own weight, a set of songs you could play in a bar as a little band, and if they are strong enough, people will turn around from their beer and watch. That was it really."
With 11 Top Five singles, 21 Top 20s and five consecutive No.1 albums Stereophonics have stood the test of time to become one of Britain's biggest bands. Their 'Greatest Hits' album 'Decade In The Sun' sold almost a million copies in two months last November.
