GRAMMY Award-winning singer, composer, producer, and actor NE-YO (born Shaffer C. Smith) is a talent sought by many artists. Not only does NE-YO have three #1 albums, over 10 million albums sold worldwide and three GRAMMY Awards of his own, he has also written and produced chart-topping hits for today’s biggest stars including Rihanna, Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Celine Dion and many more. His latest album, Non–Fiction was released in January of 2015. The album reached number five on the US Billboard Top 200, making NE-YO the second male R&B artist to have six consecutive top 10 albums.

The Metro Radio Arena are absolutely delighted to announce after a break the R&B superstar will be making a much welcomed return to the North East with very special guests on Saturday 26th November 2016.

Ailsa Oliver General Manager for the venue said “NE-YO is an unrivalled talent and following rave reviews of his 2013 performance we look forward to welcoming him back to the Metro Radio Arena with his extensive back catalogue”

NE-YO’s breakout, platinum single “So Sick,” first set the tone for his impending success, which was continued by his first solo album In My Own Words (2006) that debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200. NE-YO continued his streak of making hit after hit with his following albums Because of You (2007), Year of the Gentleman (2008), Libra Scale (2010) and most recently R.E.D. (2012). In January this past year, NE-YO released his sixth full-length studio album Non-Fiction, anchored by the lead single “Money Can’t Buy” featuring Jeezy and "She Knows" featuring Juicy J.  The album hit the R&B Charts at #1.

In addition to music, NE-YO’s solid career in film includes credits in George Lucas’s RED TAILS (2012), Stomp The Yard (2007), Battle: LA (2011), and Save the Last Dance (2006). Also, in 2007, he founded The Compound Foundation, a 501© 3 non-profit aimed at helping disadvantaged foster-care children learn life-skills.

Recently, NE-YO joined the most popular television series, Empire, as music writer and featured cast mate. The second season of Empire premiered in September 2015. NE-YO also joined the star studded cast of The Wiz Live!, as the Tin Man, which aired live on NBC on December 3, 2015. The Wiz Live! gave NBC its best Thursday rating in two years, since The Sound of Music Live.

In fact, according to TVLive, “Among all broadcast networks, it marks the highest rated Thursday in over a year (since Sept. 25, 2014, when ABC’s “TGIT” season openers averaged a 3.6) and the most watched one since Feb. 19 (when CBS aired the Two and a Half Men series finale).” NE-YO’s performance was widely recognized by critics as “outstanding.”

And currently, NE-YO is featured on the compilation album We Love Disney with NE-YO on the Oscar and Golden Globe Award-winning song Friend Like Me, from 1992's Aladdin."
