Following an outstanding performance supporting Pussycat Dolls earlier this year R&B superstar Ne-Yo is bringing his very own headlining tour to The Metro Radio Arena on Saturday 18th July 2009. click for preview In addition to penning his own collection, Ne-Yo has shown his writing prowess penning lyrics for Rihanna, Beyonce, Mario, Celine Dion, Leona Lewis, Lindsay Lohan, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston to name a few. This is a further testament to this mans growth as an artist and rise to becoming a world class song-writer and performer. Ne-Yo's third album, Year of the Gentleman, sold 250,000 copies in its first week in the United States, debuting on the Billboard 200 at number two, with the first single "Closer" hitting the UK top spot hotly followed by the infectious "Miss Independent" The album was nominated for Best Contemporary R&B Album and Album of the Year at the 2009 Grammy Awards, "Closer" for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, and "Miss Independent" for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song. "His way with a melody is unstoppable, made all the more effective by his understated, no frills approach to performing." - The Guardian Traffic Warning Please note when planning your journey to the arena that details of the planned refurbishment work on the A1 Allerdene Bridge have been confirmed by Highways Agency. Preliminary works will take place on the bridge overnight from 18 - 24 July between 8pm and 6am. The works will require lane closures on both carriageways of the A1 between Kingsway (Team Valley) and Eighton Lodge (Angel), and on one night there will be a full closure of the northbound carriageway. This work is needed to open a crossover in the central reserve and install speed cameras to enable traffic to run in contraflow during the main works. There may be slight delays to drivers during this time so please plan your journey and leave enough time to ensure you don't miss any of this fantastic show.
