Announce biggest UK Tour to date & Homecoming Arena show.
Newcastle-bred success story Maximo Park, fresh from headlining the Evolution festival will be playing a very special gig in their hometown here at the Metro Radio Arena on Saturday 15th December 2007.
Paul Smith and co. will hit the road in October and be joined on tour by Good Shoes, with Blood Red Shoes and Theoretical Girl also supporting some of the shows, plus some very special guests to be announced for the Newcastle date.
North-East’s response to the post-punk revival of the 2000s, Maximo Park have come a long way since their humble beginnings back in 2000, swiftly rising to indie fame with their debut album A Certain Trigger hailed by some critics as one of the best releases of the year, leading to an increasingly devoted fanbase both internationally and in the UK along with a much deserved Mercury Music Prize nomination.
Having supported Kaiser Chiefs on the NME Rock & Roll Riot Tour. The band played the Glastonbury Festival and the Brixton Academy as part of Xfm's 2005 Winter Wonderland show, which sold out in ten minutes, and were headliners for the NME Awards Tour in early 2006.
'Our Earthly Pleasures', already certified Gold in the UK, is the second album from Maximo Park, and marks a departure from their art-rock debut, and shows a progression to heavier songs and more advanced songwriting. Featuring big radio singles, fantastically developed emotional songs, and even a soaring ballad, ‘Our Earthly Pleasure’ includes the rip roaring, rollercoaster of a return that is first single ‘Our Velocity’. ‘Books From Boxes’ the first single to be released from the new album on Monday 11th June will be available on CD single, two x 7” coloured vinyl and to download.
