  • Doors Open: 7.30pm

Kasabian, announce the release of their new album ‘Empire’ through Columbia Records on 28th August, and also details of a UK tour. The band, whose forthcoming Brixton Academy show (15th August) sold out in less than 10 minutes, will embark on a full arena tour in December including the Metro Radio Arena Newcastle on Thursday 21st December 2006 (rescheduled from the 8th December, tickets remain valid), (supported by special guests ‘The Fratellis’) which will be co-promoted by National Media partners MTV and Bizarre/The Sun. Recorded at Rockfield Studios, ‘Empire’ was produced by Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Editors, Ladytron) and Kasabian and is the follow up to the band’s debut album, ‘Kasabian’, which sold over 700,000 copies in the UK. Their current single, which shares the album title, recently entered the charts at No. 9, despite only enjoying one week’s worth of exposure. Unlike the typical release model where singles are played on radio and TV for six weeks prior to release, ‘Empire’ was made available, both physically and as a download, on the same day it was played for the first time on the airwaves. Marketing Director, Paul Tappenden said, “This concert is another excellent addition to our 2006 events line up” Tickets costing £21 (limited to 4 tickets per person) go on sale 9am Saturday 12th August 2006
