Rock n’ Roll is dead, Long Live Rock n’ Roll. Metro Radio Arena is welcoming the back the fantastic Daniel O’Donnell for one night only on Monday 19th September ’05. People have been saying that Rock n’ Roll is dead for some years now, but then over the years, a number of artists have proved otherwise. The latest star to challenge the theory is Ireland’s easy listening crooner, Daniel O’Donnell. On the back of two hugely successful rock n’ roll albums, Daniel is planning a special nationwide Rock n’ Roll tour for later this year. The albums in question – Daniel In Blue Jeans (2003) and The Jukebox Years (2004) – both reached No.3 in the UK Charts, sharing the distinction of Daniel’s highest chart placing. And for an artist who has had an album in the UK charts every year for the past seventeen years, that is no mean feat. For the forthcoming tour, out of the window will go the trademark stylish suits and patent shoes and in their place, Jeans, leather Jacket and the inevitable Blue Suede shoes. Daniel has frequently included a rock n’ roll song or medley in his normal stage performance, but such has been the interest generated by these hit albums that in September, he will tour this Rock n’ Roll spectacular around some major venues in the UK and Ireland. The shows will feature songs from both the previous two albums and also highlight numbers from a third album to be released in conjunction with the tour. Daniel’s normal band will be augmented by a brass section and the show will also feature a great nostalgic stage set and dancers. It’s also rumored that Daniel will be attempting some of the jiving himself with his long time singing partner Mary Duff! The audience will be encouraged to raid their attics for original 50’s and 60’s gear and come along suitably attired. All in all, it’s planned to be a thoroughly enjoyable, fun evening for everybody. Tickets costing££23.50, £25.50 & £27.50 (subject to booking fee) are on general sale from Saturday 14th May at 10am and are available all usual outlets.
