The Metro Radio Arena is proud to announce that Basement Jaxx will be appearing on Wednesday 6th December 2006, as part of their biggest ever headline tour.
Since starting life as underground producers and party promoters in 1995, putting out their first tracks on shrink wrapped vinyl and throwing hush-hush raves in abandoned South London pizza joints, Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Buxton, collectively known as Basement Jaxx, have taken the sound of London, SW9 to the world.
With album sales of more than 2.5 million under their belt, including the recent double platinum UK No.1 collection “The Singles”, Basement Jaxx have also developed into a legendary live act in which they eschew the usual head bobbing DJ style show that dance music is known for in favour of an all out sensory assault featuring drums, percussion, guitar and an army of singers.
“We always wanted to put on a proper show and not just perform a glorified DJ set” says Felix “and I think we’ve managed that – but we’ll be looking to take it up a notch this year.”
2005 saw them perform at the world famous Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, to 30,000 people in Hyde Park and close the main stage at the ultimate festival, Glastonbury.
Earlier the same year saw them collect their first Grammy for “Best Electronic Album” to add to the two BRIT’s (Best Dance Act) and numerous other awards already on the shelf.
A fourth album, currently untitled and under construction in London, is due for release later this year.
Metro Radio Arena’s Marketing Director Paul Tappenden said “We are delighted that this fantastic duo are making an appearance here and are positive that this show will be a huge success.
