Alfie Boe formerly known as ‘The Nation’s Favourite Tenor’ has announced details of his second UK arena tour for November and December 2014 opening in Newcastle at the Metro Radio Arena on Saturday 29th November 2014

In his 2013 tour sold out, which included two nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall, Boe played to almost 80,000 fans.

This new tour follows the news of Alfie’s new album, which is due for release on October 20, 2014.

“Italian folks songs have been a part of my life ever since I was a kid chasing after the ice-cream van with my friends while it blasted out O Sole Mio. None of us knew what the song was. Well, I didn’t until my Dad played a version of it sung by Enrico Caruso after one Sunday Lunch. I knew it sounded familiar but couldn’t place it, all I knew was that it made me feel happy. Thanks Dad, for teaching me so much.

Since those days, I have sung many songs, but I’m always drawn back to this area of music. I think because it’s spontaneous. And the songs themselves are simple but about the biggest and best things: love, loss, journeying away, coming home, family, living life. In Italy especially, this music is just in the people, a part of everyday life. It seems to inspire people, young and old, to dance and sing together. It makes a bridge between generations. And it reminds me of sharing happy times together with family and friends. Singing these songs makes me feel a part of something good”

Celebrating UK album sales of well over one million and four Top Ten albums, Alfie Boe will perform favourite classic tracks with his orchestra from all his albums - including Bridge Over Troubled Water, Granada, God Give me Strength, Maria and Nessun Dorma, as well as performed by Alfie in ITV’s hit period drama Mr Selfridge, where he appeared as tenor Richard Chapman, he will sing Danny Boy and of course perform the iconic song Bring Him Home from Les Miserables, by which Boe has become a worldwide star.

Britain's favourite tenor, Alfie Boe, is back – bringing the magic and romance of the Italian Riviera to the UK as today he announces the release of his eagerly-awaited new album Serenata, on 17th November on Decca Records.

Serenata, which means ‘to sing in your honour’, is a beautiful collection of romantic Italian songs, perfectly suited to Alfie's distinctive voice. With the glowing nostalgia of these hugely popular tunes, Alfie Boe not only reminds us of the extraordinary impact of these Italian songs and this music, but also why he has become the biggest-selling British tenor of today.

Alfie effortlessly makes this popular repertoire his own. He displays both his versatility and charm in bringing high intensity and passion (with incredible breath control!) alongside gentle, lilting high spirits.

We are also delighted to announce that Sol3 Mio will be Alfie Boe’s Special Guests on this tour. Made up of two tenor brothers, Pene and Amitai Pati from Auckland, New Zealand and their baritone cousin Moses Mackay, SOL3 MIO is the combination of three powerful and moving operatic voices, with more than a dash of uncontainable Samoan humour. By their own definition they are first and foremost ‘classical singers bridging the gap with contemporary’, but the unique way in which they do it has already shown the potential to widen their appeal. Their onstage brotherly bonhomie, off the cuff banter and impeccable comedic timing is no act, simply an extension of their natural selves, and the culmination of a lifetime’s worth of singing, performing and entertaining. With natural musicality, that indefinable phenomenon of kindred voices in unison, an ever present twinkle in their eye, and crucially years of hard study and coaching – SOL3 MIO quite simply have the potential to bring a whole new audience to the music they have devoted their lives to. Their album Sol3 Mio will be released in the UK by Decca in October 2014. www.sol3mio.com
